This week we have another collection for a family studio portrait. We stuck to a palette of black, blush, white and pops of gold to add timeless elegance to portrait.
The only pattern is on the young girl’s skirt. Like we’ve mentioned before, patterns can make a portrait fun, but also date it too. With these stripes, you can’t go wrong. There’s great texture in the mother’s dress, the father’s tie and the older daughter’s white top. There’s also layering with jewelry and a sweater to keep everything interesting.
Gold can be an overpowering color. We only used it once on an article of clothing and made sure the other two women wore understated gold jewelry. Any two members of the family will look great next to each other in a portrait too, which is important for husband/wife, siblings, father/daughter, mother/daughter, etc. Dress like you’re going to the same event and you can’t go wrong.
